Here’s Where to Get Tom Holland’s Nike Air Max 97s

[ad_1]

While you’re probably used to seeing Spidey star Tom Holland in super-tight spandex, he’s got a good track record for excellent style off-screen. Whether he’s in a delicious collegiate-style Prada cardigan, technicolor Berluti knit or a full Todd Snyder look, he’s one of the better-dressed actors in Hollywood right now.

Holland has also got a thing for sneakers. Whether he’s in a pair of sold-out Patta x Nike Air Max 1 Monarchs, Air Jordan “Hyper Crimson” kicks, Fear Of God’s high-top basketball sneaks, or Vans’ limited-edition patchwork slip-ons, he’s giving his fellow sneakerheads Timothée Chalamet and Ryan Reynolds a run for their money.

Holland isn’t just about ultra-rare kicks though, and a few of his choices are pretty obtainable. Case in point: when he was sighted with his brother in Los Angeles earlier this month, he wore a pair of excellent Nike sneakers that you can easily get your feet into.

The shoes in question are Nike’s Air Max 97s, which the Oregon-based sportswear giant has been producing since—you guessed it—1997. Characterized by a curved, tube-like design on the upper, inspired by the rapid Shinkansen bullet trains in Japan, the Air Max 97s are the brainchild of sneaker designer Christian Tresser (also behind the Nike Air Zoom Spirido and Mercurials, as well as Reebok’s DMX6). Holland’s sneakers, which released in July 2021, come in Nike’s “Purple Bullet” wash and the Swoosh and the underfoot Air bubble have been constructed with an amethyst hue. The best news? You can grab the exact sneaks for just over $139.

Since its release 25 years ago, Nike Air Max 97s have remained one of the brand’s most popular designs. Skepta reworked the shoes in 2017, creating a copper-hued take on the original silhouette, and Adidas and Nike collaborator Sean Wotherspoon produced a multicolored take a year later. Virgil Abloh presented an all-white pair as part of his “The Ten” project in 2017, while a distressed leather Air Max 97 was just sent down the runway as part of the Comme des Garçons Homme Plus AW/22 collection.

Do your fits a favor and cop Holland’s sneaks at StockX and Nordstrom.
